In short: your recordings and texts never leave your device. We don't have a server that could receive them.

Speech-to-text conversion happens entirely in your browser on your device. Recordings, microphone recordings and finished transcripts are not transferred to us or to third parties. We can neither see nor store them.
So you can find your transcripts later, the site stores them in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). This data stays on your device only. You can delete it one by one in the app or remove it completely in your browser settings.
If you want to record directly, your browser asks for permission to use the microphone. The recording stays on your device. You can revoke the permission in your browser at any time.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technically necessary data such as your IP address, date and time, the requested address and information about your browser and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the site and protect it from abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which is the basis for the transfer to the USA.
On first use, your browser downloads the speech recognition model (Whisper) and, if you create study notes, a language model (Qwen) from Hugging Face Inc., 20 Jay Street, Suite 620, Brooklyn, NY 11201, USA. For technical reasons, Hugging Face receives your IP address as well as information about your browser and the time. Your recordings and texts are not transferred. Afterwards, the models are kept in your browser's private storage on your device, so further downloads are usually not needed. You can remove them in your browser settings ("clear site data"). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: transcription doesn't work without the model. This may involve a transfer to the USA.
In your browser's local storage (localStorage), the site remembers whether you see it in light or dark mode and how many minutes you've transcribed this month. This stays on your device and is necessary for the function you use (§ 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG). We don't use cookies, analytics tools or advertising. Fonts are loaded from our own site.
If you write to us, we process your information to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete it when it's no longer needed.
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
